React Developer – Help build the future of Highcharts!
Want to shape the future of the world’s most used data visualization library? At Highsoft, you get ownership, real influence, and exciting challenges while working on a global product rooted in Vik.
Do you enjoy building functionality that actually gets used? Highsoft is the company that started as a hobby project to visualize snow depth on Vikafjellet, and has since grown into the world’s most widely used data visualization library. Today, Highcharts is used by 80 of the world’s 100 largest companies, and we’re still doing the same thing: building tools developers genuinely love working with.
Maybe you’re currently working on complex interfaces or large web applications, and you’re looking for a place where you can have more influence? As a React Developer with us, you’ll have the opportunity to shape new solutions, create great user experiences, and contribute directly to a product that stands on its own, rather than just being a small component in a larger system. A place where you work closely with the product, design, development, and occasionally customers? Then this might be the job for you.
With us, you’ll help further develop Highcharts, with global reach and strong local roots - are you in?
What does the job involve?
As a React Developer at Highsoft, you’ll help further develop Highcharts together with product managers, designers, and developers. You’ll design and implement new features, improve existing solutions, and ensure quality throughout the entire development process.
You’ll write code, test, debug, and make technical decisions that support both user needs and product strategy. You translate design and requirements into solid technical solutions, and take part in technical discussions and architectural decisions. From time to time, you’ll also meet customers and users through insight interviews or usability testing.
In practice, this means you will:
design and implement new features
improve and modernize existing solutions
write code, test, debug, and ensure high quality throughout the process
translate design and requirements into robust, practical technical solutions
contribute to technical discussions, architectural decisions, and code reviews
occasionally participate in customer meetings, insight interviews, or user testing
An important part of the role is working on the continued development of the Highcharts library, with a particular focus on React. Therefore, senior-level competence in React is central—we’re looking for someone who hasn’t just used existing component libraries, but who has experience developing their own React components. Strong skills in JavaScript/TypeScript and React are essential, and the React domain will be a clear focus area where you’ll have responsibility for strengthening and further developing our capabilities.
Experience with technologies such as Angular, Vue, Tailwind, Next.js, Node.js, CI/CD, accessibility, and modern CSS is an advantage, but not a requirement. You’ll work closely with the rest of the team to ensure good flow, technical quality, and stable deliveries.
Who are you?
You have solid experience with React, JavaScript, and TypeScript—and preferably have developed your own components, not just used others’. You thrive on complex frontend challenges and care about performance, structure, and accessibility.
You’re curious about users and want to understand how the product is actually used. You’re motivated by translating needs and insights into concrete, high-quality solutions—and you enjoy connecting technical considerations with user experience and product strategy.
As a person, you enjoy working in cross-disciplinary teams and contribute to a positive, open, and inclusive work environment. You value structure and quality in your work, and you find satisfaction in debugging, structure, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
Formal education is a plus, but not a requirement. We care most about what you can do, how you think, and how you use your skills to create great solutions.
Why work with us?
At Highsoft, you’ll be part of an environment characterized by collaboration, short decision-making paths, and strong professional expertise. You’ll work on a product used all over the world—in an organization with warmth, humor, and plenty of room to be yourself.
With us, you get:
🏔️ A safe, social, and informal workday
🚀 A workplace with short paths from idea to action
🤝 Close collaboration with skilled developers, designers, and product managers
🧭 An experienced mentor when you start—we take care of new hires
🏡 A flexible, hybrid workday
🎯 Dart matches, mountain hikes, and coffee breaks in the common room
We have offices in Vik, at Rockethouse in Sogndal, and at Media City Bergen—you can work from the location that suits you best 🌍
